Report List

The Report List view is an aggregated tabular display of all LENA recording and LENA Developmental Snapshot data for an individual child, accompanied by dynamic AVA and Snapshot graphs and areas for notes regarding each day's data.

Orientation to the Report List view

The Report List view displays all data for a single child in an adjustable split window.

  • The upper portion of the window shows all numerical data in a table.
  • The lower portion displays the relevant graph (AVA or Snapshot) and other items for the selected row of data.

The Report List contains the following features described elsewhere in this chapter:

  1. drop-down child list for easy navigation among children
  2. print report button
  3. export data button
  4. report navigation buttons for easy navigation among one child's reports

  • The data are arranged chronologically from oldest to newest, with one recording date or Snapshot per row.
  • Roll over any column heading to define it.

Recording data rows:

Recording data are displayed in black text, with a miniature calendar icon at the beginning of the row.

  1. Use display toggle button (# or %) to switch the display from counts and standard scores (SS) to percentiles (PCT).
  2. A pink check mark over the calendar icon indicates audio is still available for that file. (In the illustration below, the audio have been deleted, so there is no check mark.)
  3. The % in the TV column indicates the percentage of the recording that was identified as coming from an electronic source (TV, radio, etc.).

Note:  For a recording date with more than 10 hours of data, projected 12-hour values are displayed.  For fewer than 10 hours, actual counts are displayed.

When a recording data row is highlighted, AVA and audio information are displayed in the lower portion of the screen, as explained in the next section.

Recording data rows:

Special notes about recording dates (rows) and recording files:

  • A recording file is everything that was on the recorder at the time of upload.
  • A recording date is the calendar date, in local time, when the audio was captured.
  • A recording file may contain data from more than one date.
  • Any file that includes more than one recording date will be split among rows, with one row per recording date.  You will see the same filename repeated on both rows.  For example, a single continuous recording that extends beyond midnight and into the following day will be split across two rows.  Similarly, if a family records a few hours on each of 4 separate days, that file's data will show up on 4 rows - one for each day.  Remember that projected counts and percentiles can only be calculated when at least 10 hours of audio were captured in a single calendar day.
  • Each recording date is displayed only once. Therefore when two separate files contain data captured on the same date, all data for that date are summed, but only the filename for the earliest data is displayed.
  • LENA strongly recommends against capturing data for a single child on two separate recorders for a single calendar date - for example, letting a device record past midnight, and then recording with another device starting later that morning.
  • Report List also allows you to change the time zone or reassign a recording.

Developmental Snapshot rows:

Developmental Snapshot data are displayed in pink text (turns black when highlighted), with a miniature graph icon at the beginning of the row.

  1. Use display toggle button (# or %) to switch the display from Snapshot standard scores (SS) to percentiles (PCT).
  2. Roll over any column heading to define it.

When a Developmental Snapshot row is highlighted, Snapshot information is displayed in the lower portion of the screen, as explained in the next section.

The information displayed here relates to the type of record highlighted in the upper portion of the display.

The area can be resized and reproportioned using either the grabber bar or the resize grabber to change the size of the chart section versus the table section, and the chart versus the information and notes.
