How does LENA work?

Collect natural language data with LENA in 3 easy steps:

  1. Record.  A child wears a highly advanced, yet compact and lightweight LENA Recorder (DLP) in special acoustically designed LENA Clothing to record 10-16 hours of his or her natural language environment.
  2. Return.  After recording, the DLP is connected to a PC running the LENA Pro software to transfer and process the audio file using advanced algorithms and statistical modeling.
  3. Review.  For each recording processed, the LENA Pro software displays counts, percentiles, scores, and more for review and further analysis.
