Delete a child's file without deleting the child
The processed recording file and all derived data will be permanently deleted.
These instructions apply to LENA Pro and LENA Pro Pilot only. They do not apply to LENA Pro Graduate Student version or LENA Collector.
- To delete a file in LENA Pro Grad, please contact LENA Support.
- Deletion of unwanted files from LENA Collector is best managed during import into LENA Pro. If your situation necessitates removing the file from LENA Collector prior to transfer to Pro, please contact LENA Support for assistance.
1. In Client Manager click Add to create a temporary, fake child.
- Use Add child, fill in required information, and click Save.
- Birth date and gender do not matter in this instance.
- Tip: Using last name 000 streamlines the next steps.
2. In the Report List view for the real child, RIGHT click on the file to be deleted.
- The file in this example spanned two calendar dates, so the file name appears on two rows. You must click on the first calendar day for any file that contains multiple recording dates.
- If you click on the first visible instance of a filename, but you see a message that this file is "part of an earlier recording," please contact LENA Support for assistance.
- If you are at all uncertain about how to interpret the Report List for this step, please contact LENA Support to avoid accidentally deleting the wrong file.
- Please don't worry about our Johnny's lack of language exposure and AVA data. These are sample files created with the recorder in a desk drawer.
2.3. Click Yes on the warning about reprocessing.
- Reprocessing is unnecessary because we are removing the file.
2.4. Click Yes if you see the multiple recording date prompt.
- You will only see this prompt for files that include multiple dates.
- Don't worry about the odd dates in the prompt - this is a bug specific to date display in this prompt. It does not affect the files themselves.
3. In Client Manager, highlight and delete the fake child.
4. The temporary child and the reassigned file are permanently removed.
- The child and the file will persist in any existing backups.
- If it is important to completely eliminate the file immediately (for privacy reasons, for example) overwrite your old backup(s) with a new one.
