"Set Clock" message: DLP (recorder) clock time drift

It is normal for the recorder’s internal clock to drift over time.

When you connect a recorder to your LENA computer, the software attempts to sync the recorder's clock time to the computer’s clock time.

  • If the difference is <15 minutes, the sync happens "quietly," behind the scenes.
  • If the difference is >15 minutes, the software will prompt you to correct the recorder clock time.

Conditions where we would expect this prompt include:

  • the recorder has not been connected to a LENA computer for several weeks so that the clock has drifted significantly
  • the recorder is used with more than one LENA computer and the clocks do not match closely
  • the software has failed to read the clock time on recent connections and so the clock has not been updated
  • the user has been clicking No when prompted to reset the clock for this device

If you are seeing and agreeing to this prompt repeatedly with any one recorder that is in heavy rotation on a single computer, please contact LENA Support.

Click Yes to sync the recorder clock with your computer's clock.

Updating the recorder clock does not affect any onboard data. The timestamp is applied when the recording is initiated, based on the recorder's clock at that moment. Updating the recorder clock will help ensure that the next recording is stamped with the correct time.
