Can I test a recorder (DLP) before using it to check sound quality and sound levels?
Yes. This article explains how to use the quick DLP Test feature included in the LENA Pro software. DLP is the old name for the LENA recorder.
Alternatively, you can record, upload, and process a test recording (minimum duration 10 minutes) to listen to the audio from within LENA or from the .wav export. If you are using LENA Pro or LENA Pro Pilot, we recommend assigning the file to a temporary, fake child for easy deletion after testing is complete. Remember to use a birth date that precedes the recording date. If you are using LENA Pro Grad, there is no option for deleting a child or a file, so plan file assignment carefully, and make a note that the file is not to be included in your analysis.
