What is a Client/Group?
A Client/Group (usually referred to simply as a "Group") is a tool for organizing and filtering your Child records.
You can create Groups, and assign Child records to them, according to the criteria relevant to your LENA project. Then, when you highlight a particular Group in Client Manager, only the Child records belonging to that Group will be displayed in the Client Manager list, in the drop-down participant list for all Report views, and in the Export window. Irrelevant records are eliminated from view, allowing you to more easily find the record(s) of interest.
Some examples of Group use include:
- A study might have a Control group and an Intervention group.
- A LENA system being used for several research projects might have one or more groups named for each project.
- A LENA system being used in early intervention might have a group for each provider's caseload.
A few important points about Groups:
- You can create as many Groups as you need.
- Each Group can contain as many Child records as required.
- Each Child record can be associated with a maximum of one group.
- Subgroups do not exist, but some LENA users customize Group names, or the first name, last name, and/or Child ID fields in the Child record, to function as subgroups.
- There is no filter to show only those Child records not assigned to a Group, so you may find it's advantageous to assign all children to a Group - even if one of the Groups is named "Unassigned."
